the sea and Tides to Resin

Hi, I'm Jenn and welcome to my website. If you love the ocean and the beach as much as I do then this is the perfect place where you can buy a small piece of the coast for yourself.

Most of my work here is 'MADE To ORDER' so each piece I create takes a little time as it's uniquely handmade for you. 

Here's a little bit about me and what inspired me to create Tides To Resin.

I started my art journey when I was very young. I loved listening to the old rock band, Kiss. I used to sit and copy their album covers using pencils. I went to art college, after school, where I gained lots of qualifications in art and design. I went onto textile design, I just loved patterns, textures and vibrant colours. After college, I went to work at a silk screen printers and became their head artist. It wasn't for me as I didn't like working with computers although the freehand artwork I really loved. After 4 years here, I left and I went into display merchandising with greetings cards and jewellery. I trained my mum up where we worked together for 8 years. Not long later, I lost both my mum and dad, things had gotten so hard for me. I had my 2 beautiful girls, Ava and Esmée. I got married to Baz then later on I got diagnosed with a benign brain tumour. I have an Acoustic Neuroma which was caught by sheer accident. To cut a long story short, I needed a place to escape to in my mind and to try to create my own happy place. The beach was always my place! 

As a child, I spent most weekends in New Brighton, on the Wirral Peninsula, with my family and our Polish nan & grandad. Today, it's still my favourite place to escape to, with my own family and to create those everlasting memories for my children. This is where 'Tides to Resin' came to life.

I'm totally self taught using epoxy resin. It's a tricky but addictive medium to figure out, and how to create those magical waves is a totally different story as everything I did felt wrong! I was so determined not to give up as this was something I really needed to learn. I tested many resins, their viscosity, the white pigments, the heat guns, the timings, you name it! Practise, practise, practise, that's all I did! Then finally, I could see those waves finally emerge, with a huge loving thank you to my dad, after I found his heat gun in our garage. I got my timings right, after alot of trials and I now use the best resin out there by the lovely UK based '@Apex' resin, who I'm proudly a brand ambassador for. My work over the last couple of years has really evolved and I'm still learning every day on making those waves mine and to have my own unique style, which I think I've finally found.
